Expert in Administration of the Reserve Funds INT/EXT 21629

The Principal Directorate Administration of the Reserve Funds contributes to the long-term financial stability of the European Patent Organisation by taking responsibility for the investment activities related to the Reserve Funds for Pensions and Social Security (RFPSS). In view of the size of the reserve funds, currently valued at about EUR 11bn, the results achieved through management of the RFPSS investments are of vital importance for the financial health of the Organisation. The Fund Administrator, together with fund administration staff, implements the strategy adopted by the Supervisory Board as well as the relevant investment policy within the framework of appropriate risk controls and risk management methods.

The principal directorate, which has around 20 staff in four departments, is currently looking for an expert to join the Administration and Operations team responsible for the back-office side of investment activities.

With us you will:

  • be an important member of a successful team of investment operations specialists
  • deliver investment operations to the highest standards
  • liaise with banks, brokers and other financial institutions regarding execution and settlement of transactions carried out by the portfolio managers on behalf of the RFPSS
  • review and manage data relating to the investment activity of the RFPSS (including master data, broker information, settlement instructions, corporate actions, dividends and other income, and securities lending) in co‑operation with the Portfolio Management team, external managers, the accounting team and the custodian bank
  • analyse and advise on complex and non-standard cases in investment operations
  • provide analysis and documents/reports to management as required
  • have responsibility for assigned specialist areas of activity and the organisation
  • plan, contribute to and monitor important projects
  • manage relationships with internal and external business partners, such as the custodian bank and RFPSS counterparties (banks, brokers and fund management companies)

Apply if you have:

  • extensive experience in the financial services industry (investment management, pension funds, insurance asset management, banking), preferably in the area of investment operations
  • several years of experience with middle-/back-office systems and/or relevant IT tools
  • capacity to perform under pressure and with the highest standards of integrity
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • certification as chartered financial analyst or similar preferred (an asset, not a must)

Our minimum requirements for this post:

  • Diploma of completed studies at bachelor's level or equivalent or – in exceptional cases – equivalent professional experience
  • Working knowledge of two official languages; alternatively, working knowledge of one official language (in such cases, the willingness to learn the missing language and to reach level B2 within a set time frame would be required)
  • Citizenship of one of the member states of the European Patent Organisation

The successful candidate will be selected on the basis of qualifications, competencies, professional experience and language knowledge, supplemented as appropriate by interviews, tests and/or a personality questionnaire.

If, following the selection procedure, we identify more suitable candidates than we have vacancies for at this time, we will establish a reserve list that will remain valid for 18 months. We may then use this list to fill any vacancies with substantially the same profile that arise during this period.
