Specific requirements for legally qualified members
To work as a legal member, a fully completed university degree in law is required; a specialisation in intellectual property law would be an asset.
Candidates also need to have acquired many years of professional experience, preferably in the field of patent law, with practical experience as a judge or lawyer in private practice, or as a legal adviser in public administration or industry.
An interest in technical subject-matter is important too.
